Help with a Rolex GMTII, please.
I am in Alaska and decided to go by the mall to pick up a few things(the airline lost my luggage!). Anyway, I decided to go try on and check out a Rolex GMT-II. The lady at the the counter said the msrp was $7k. I looked at her like she was crazy, then ask about discounts. She said, "You'll pay $7k". I proceeded with, "Bullsh*t, you're crazy!" She kept trying to push me to use the 12 months interest free credit line. I said that I was would be leaving in a month and she proceeded with "That's okay, you can make payments online". I walked out, being 24, dressed in nice jeans, expensive tee-shirt, and dress shoes, I didn't really expect that type of customer service. Hell, I even had on my Panerai 112 with my custom Rob strap. Some people...
What I am getting at is: What would be an expect price to pay? I'm sure they're being discounted in this economy and this b*tch is batsh*t crazy if she thinks I am going to pay anywhere close to SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!
Thanks everyone,
Wes

Wow, I didn't know MSRP was really $7000. I had always thought it was around $5700.

I believe the Explorer II is the $5700 MSRP
The GMT II is closer to $7000 MSRP
Ive never known local Rolex dealers to give deep discounts to people who arent regulars.

Thats kinda like saying, "Rolls Royce is played out IMO." There are certainly other nice options that are more cutting edge, less traditional, and more individualistic... but Rolex watches are the gold standard of luxury timepieces and will likely never be "played out."
