Yea, if you're trading 3k worth of lenses for a 111, that's a good deal. You could even flip the 111 right away and make a little profit to put towards the 233 if you wanted to.

No...3K towards whatever watch I choose. The 111 is 5K...so it would be 2K out of pocket.

In that case, I'd be careful. You can find a new 111 K series for about $4500, in used condition for obviously less than that. Since the 111s are not a limited edition it's hard to say what the price will do, even considering increases in prices.

The 297 is a newer version of the 88. The 297 has brushed case and polished bezel where as the 88 is all polished. The 88 has a contrasting sub dial as where the 297 matches the rest of the dial. Other than that pretty close to the same.

Get the 88 if that is an option! Of all the watches I own my Pam 088 is my fav, the contrast on the sub dial really makes the face stand out. I changed the brown crock for a black so it goes better with daily wear. It is by far the most worn watch I have.

I have the large PO as well and the 44mm 88 looks and wears bigger then the larger PO! If you have huge wrist I think one of the 44mm Pam will do well!

    Default hold value?

After essentially getting no interest in my unworn white dial SS/daytona at $7K. I traded to my AD straight up for a FER012. Bad move. Love the movement--hate the watch.

PAMs -- I have always done well with. To get something that has a chance at holding value wait till find you an old PAM you like at a price you like. Say a 23 A or B if you like GMT's.

Watch the next F1 race and see how small Matchett's daytona looks on his wrist.

I would love a SS Daytona at 7k!

Lost money on both Rolex and Panerai. Just buy what you like. I'd vote for Panerai over Rolex. Panerai just looks much better. If you want a Panerai that retains value for certain, buy a 127. It's hard to predict what will retain its value in the future. Panerai has been more of a hype. When the hype eases, who knows what will happen to its value. Buy a watch you like and enjoy it, at least you have the enjoyment when staring at it on your wrist
