Default Best way to clean/polish a watch?

New here! My 1st thread was a fail, here's my 2nd attempt. Apologies if this has been asked before. I have a couple watches that I would like to have cleaned or polished. Hopefully removing some of the light scratches/blemishes.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to go about it? Go to a store (ie. Mayors)?

Thanks ahead of time for any advice.

go to a store.. but not a chain like mayors as they will prolly screw you over unless youve bought bunch from them. most independent stores that sell the brand in question will polish and brush it up for like 65$ or so.

or you can buy some cape cod cloths and a "Brush pen" and do it urself but it never looks right..

A person should keep some general cleaning/polishing items at home:
-
For polished metal. Cape Cod cloth works superb on swirls and light scratches or if you just want to shine it up. Deeper scratches I bust out a Dremel tool with polishing compund also made by Dremel. Never used jewelers rouge but may be the same
-
Titanium or Brushed steel I have had success with scuffs using those refinishing pens sold on places like ebay
-
One goes out at night and hits a door, desk or something, can't always be taking your stuff in to the dealer or forum friends for every minor occurrence. I consider it general maintenance.
