Not sure is tacky is the approriate definition for my comment, but you are right, part of the rules of this forum or any forum is that politics and religion are not allowed. This thread would have probably been locked if it were in off topic. Sadly, those are some of the most interesting topics to discuss but history has clearly shown that they get out of hand too easy.
To put it plainly, I despise censorship and I don't feel that these thinly veiled derragotory comments made by members constitute a "political discussion". A couple of people stated their political satire and moved on. I will never remove the off handed comments occasionaly made by members as I feel this leniency is in part what makes the watch section what it is. This leniency, while it may in rare occasion offend someone, as a whole, it allows us freedom to speak our minds and get it off our chest. IMO, that is half of the reason people come onto a forum, to simply decompress and release some of lifes built up tension. And if this comes at the cost of a of couple of questionable threads each year, then it's more than worth it.

How many quality made in the USA brands are left? I searched around and found a short list:
Benrus
Bulova
Elgin
Gruen
Hamilton
Illinois
Waltham
Timex
I'll add Lum-Tec to the list, but really come on, if the junk the Secret Service wears meets their requirements, I would imagine most of those brands would exceed those requirements.

What Watch Did Romney Wear Tonight?
Romney read this thread and wore a watch this evening. Just not sure what it was. Looked to be an all pvd piece. The moderator wore a gold Rolex.

My least favorite bracelet on the planet. Not so bad on the women's models.
