Default Went to the safety deposit box today........

Wanted to do a "family reunion" of the collection. I'm planning on paring down a good portion of my collection to fund a new purchase or two. I've found I'm a creature of habit when it comes to what I wear on a daily basis, and the majority of the collection just sits and never sees the light of day.

So this is likely the last time I'll have the group together.......

Rolex 1655 Explorer II (probably on the chopping block)

Rolex 1680 Red Submariner - Meters First (my daily beater)

Rolex 1680 Red Submariner - Feet First (definitely on the chopping block)

Rolex 16660 Sea Dweller (aka "Triple 6") matte dial (keeping this one)

Rolex 16660 matte dial (second one's probably going)

Rolex 16660 with glossy "spider" dial (probably on the chopping block)

Rolex 16660 with relumed matte dial (my other daily beater)

Rolex 16800 Submariner matte dial (just got this, but thinking of putting it up for sale)

Rolex 16623 Yachtmaster (my only modern Rolex.....this definitely will be up for sale or trade)

I'm gonna miss a bunch of these.......

I'm a vintage Rolex guy. Only other thing I'd consider would be a vintage Panerai 3646 or 6152/1 with the Rolex movement.

Maybe if I take down a couple deals I'm working on, then I'll consider a big dog Patek.

Have you seen a big increase in the vintage market demand/prices?

There's definitely been a big increase in demand/prices for "no issues" vintage pieces. Premium condition pieces (especially with box & papers) are going for big, big bucks. There's increasing interest in vintage in the Asian markets, particularly China and Singapore, which appears to be helping to fuel demand for premium pieces. The culture there abhors anything that looks used and beat up.

Here's a recent get-together of vintage Rolex enthusiasts that took place earlier this week in Hong Kong:

Rolex Passion Report of Asia Vintage Rolex Collectors Passion Meeting in Hong Kong 29 May 2012 Part I

"Regular condition" vintage has gone up in the past couple years, but only moderately. Pieces with box & papers do have higher demand and price tags.

Interesting to hear about the market of clean vintage Rolexes.

Which piece(s) are you eyeing? I'm with Raw on an AP ROO.
