Omega AD
Hey all. I was just wondering if anyone can help me out with this little predicament I've been presented with.
My father is looking to get my brother a graduation present, but he's getting sticker shock at these larger retailers (Tourneu and London Jewelers). I an effort to keep him from making compromises on the piece, I wanted to get your take on the purchase process --or if anyone here is an (or knows a) Omega AD.
He was looking at:
- The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronometer, steel on steel, black face. Reference Number 231.10.42.21.06.001. My father, shocked by the sticker, turned to the quartz version....which i know would have my brother horrified. OMEGA Watches: Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronometer - Steel on steel - 231.10.42.21.06.001
- The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, steel on steel, black face (no orange). Reference Number 2201.50.00. OMEGA Watches: Seamaster Planet Ocean - Steel on steel - 2201.50.00
The retail on these pieces is around $5k ($5,500 for the AT, and $4,500 for the PO). I'm not really aware of the purchase process myself, my one piece was gifted to me, but is there a level of "negotiation" --like a car sale? I've gone into places like Tourneu to look at pieces and I just get the impression that none of them really know anything about the pieces they're selling, and are just looking for the sale.
Please respond here, or PM if you have any insight or can help out.

That older PO can be had much cheaper. I talked to Jared's in Las Vegas (Rainbow location), and they had one they would do for $3800. Not much of a discount, but better than none. You would save on taxes having it shipped out as well.
I personally recommend Feldmar Watch Company in Los Angeles. Call them up ((310) 274-8016), ask for Sol Meller (the boss), and he'll give you the absolute best price he can give you.
FYI: Feldmar Watch Company - West Los Angeles - Los Angeles, CA Which reminds me, i'm gonna leave a review..
