My very first
For a while now I've been trying to decide what watch to get as my very first one. Last time I wore one I was 4. One that struck me the most is LV's tambour regate. What do you all think? I honestly know NOTHING about watches

If you like sailing or any kind of water racing have you considered a Corum Admirals Cup? They have at least a dozen different designs/color combos and special editions.

I sometimes feel the Louis Vuitton Tambour line of watches gets an undeserved "bad rap" for being a fashion/design watch on par with stuff from Gucci, Michael Kors, etc. when they really aren't even comparable.
This particular watch is powered by a base Dubois-Depraz automatic. For those unfamiliar with Dubois-Depraz, they specialize in manufacturing watch movement modules and their client list includes the likes of Rolex, Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet, the Swatch Group, and the Richemont Group to name a few. Needless to say, the movement powering this watch has horological chops.
The design of the actual watch, on the other hand, in a whole other matter and heavily based on personal preference. I personally don't like how busy the dial is and I have no use for a yacht timer (the 10 min. countdown timer).Last edited by i1800collect; 04-22-2012 at 10:48 PM.

I understand your point and it's not merely the inner workings of a watch that i'm looking for..sometimes it is about brand. Maybe I should have clarified more but I prefer the history that comes along with certain watch makers. I'm not hating and watches are all about personal preference, and by all means if this is what he wants then go for it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have had a little guidance in the past towards my watch purchase but never really "liked" anything. This is going to sound totally stupid but I really like the color blue LOL! But of course that isn't the pivotal factor in my choice. I have come back to this watch several times in my search the past 4 months and do think it may be the one.

You have mentioned more than once that you do not know anything about watches. Half the fun is the learning process. Take your time and learn about the different brands. Then you will identify with one and it will mean something. Thats what its all about.
