Pageant of Power 2012
The "Pageant of Power" is held at Cholmondeley Castle (pronounced "chumley") in Cheshire in the north west of Great Britain. It's kind of a mini-Goodwood Festival of Speed for those of us who don't want to venture down south, and attracts a fair number of interesting vehicles that run around the track in the grounds, as well as classic car club displays, air displays, motorcycle stunts and more. This year we had a lot of rain in the few days before the show which caused a lot of disruption as most of the car parking, club displays and general stalls are all laid out on grass. Still, we carried on, and here are some photos from the weekend.
1. Keeping warm in the paddock, "Mavis" the Bentley-Packard starts up

2. Mental motorcycle from the Sinnsheim Museum in Germany

3. And another one, the three or four seater

4. Also from Sinnsheim, the mighty Brutus

5. Weather was perfect for these guys

6. The Breitling Wing-Walkers made a comeback this year

7. And the Red Arrows dropped in on the way past to a local air show

8. Some sidecar action

9. And a few motorcycles

10. Nice Aston trying hard

11. Cleared for take-off

I'm never sure whether it's more impressive to look at, or to hear. Mavis made a special appearance outside "Media City", the new television studio complex in Manchester, the day before the Pageant. One thing it proved was that the studios are not soundproof - sitting outside revving the engine got some good publicity for the show.
