I also took the passenger side head off today to install some new dowels which I purchased. I had to take the motor mount off and jack the engine up a few inches on one side. It's done and taken care of now and shouldn't have to come out.

Transmission goes in Saturday. Rest of head valvetrain goes in this week. I also noticed even with the large power steering drop bracket I am going to have to take a hammer to the long tube headers to get it to fit correctly. I'm going to remeasure after the transmission is in. That will help me decide the final resting area of the engine.

I accomplished all my goals this weekend and have even more planned for the upcoming one!

    Intake Masked off

Intake Painted (The paint will be cleaned off the carb pad before carb installation)

    Transmission Ready for install

    Almost in position....

Forgot to take a picture of the final resting place. I'll get a good picture of it when I clean the drive shaft and install it.

Ready for next weeks install. The carburetor and coil will be changed to OEM originals when the car is done. They are just to get the car running. The carb will be changed to a Holley 850 when I purchase it. Need to hear this thing run as is first!

Looks like I am on track for getting the engine fired up on or before Thanksgiving!

So I have 6+ power steering pumps for Ford's laying around.... Some will be going in the dumpster after this. You can see my driveshaft on the left covered in surface rust. This will most likely be cleaned up for use moving the car around until the car is finished in paint.

This one had the least endplay, Pulley remover is on the shaft/pulley

    In pieces

Cleaned and painted the pulley, and a few of the brackets, semi-cleaned the bare bracket. That's going to need a more in depth cleaning.

Apparently the power steering pump is a special blue/teal color which I need to have custom mixed. Oh well it'll go back together next weekend. Tomorrow is time to finish up some of the prep work on the two front fenders and prime them. Maybe even install the driveshaft.

This weekend I installed the intake manifold and set the valve train up for the heads. You can see the washer that I was using the check the valve clearance. It's definitely an old school way of doing it. I was able to use a micrometer to get the equivalent of the required piston to valve clearance. 0.110" on the exhaust and 0.070" on the intake. Had no issues with clearance.

Engine close to being complete. Still have some cleaning up to do. Still on track for starting it on Thanksgiving.

Will do! I have a GoPro that I will be recording on. Not sure how well it will handle the open headers but you should get the picture. :]
