Part of my trip spends a couple days in Krabi and Ko Phi Phi, is it recommend I just pick one town to stay at and take a taxi or boat to the other? I planned for a total of 2 days/nights in the region, but I don't know how smart it would be to change hotels after just one day. Any input is appreciated.

A friend and I will be in Thailand/Vietnam/Singapore for the next 6.5 weeks. Sorry for the small thread hi-jack, but wondering if there are any specific car related things we should be checking out?
Thanks to ddigangi for the avatar!

I tend to take months before I really start to weed through my photos, and it takes me forever to pick and edit them.

I think I took 6-700 around the Phi Phi islands and close to 2000 total on the trip, but I've just started adding pics online for Koh Phi Phi. I'll update the links once I finish going through these, and then add some from Koh Lanta and Bangkok too.

    Here's a smugmug link:

Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh -
EDIT - I should mention, Maya Bay gets really really crowded from all the tour ops bringing people through. Our group arrived early and was one of the first boats there, which gave us a chance to explore and get nice photos of the bay. But by the time we left an hour later, the place was packed and swarming with boats and people. So I'd ask around when you book a tour and try to find someone that'll get you there first thing in the morning so that you can really experience it in its natural state.

I took this trip because I wanted an adventure, I didn't want a relaxing do-nothing vacation, I wanted to travel and see the country in a semi-sped up time frame. I'm going post the flying part in the aviation sector of L4P. Anyone, I touched down in Bangkok around 5:30 AM ICT and proceeded to head downtown for a few hours to see the city, get my money exchanged, and have my first suit fitting. The city doesn't really come alive till 10:30 in the morning, so I found myself roaming around, mainly riding the BTS and trying to learn how to get around the city. By around 9, I had found a coffee shop to post up at waiting for the malls to open so I could get some documents printed (this should have been done back in the US, but unforeseen events occurred) and purchase some clothes (the airline lost my bag and I knew it wouldn't be reaching me for a few days). After I went to the Superrich to have my currency exchanged and suit measured before heading back to the airport to catch my afternoon flight to Koh Samui. I arrived in Koh Samui in the evening and was able to catch the last ferry over to Koh Phangan on the 3rd. I rented a motorbike the next morning and traveled around the island getting intentionally lost! Towards the evening, I met up with a group of German travelers down at the pool and had dinner with them before we all headed down to Haad Rin beach for the Full Moon Party. The next morning, I had to wake my hungover self up early to get to the pier to make my 11 AM boat ride back to Koh Samui. I spent the day recovering in Koh Samui on the beach and at the pool, in the evening I was feeling up to health to take a stroll around the eastern side of the island. The next morning, I woke up and began my long day of traveling by a combination of taxi to the pier, boat to the Don Sak, bus to Surat Thani, mini bus to Krabi, and Songathaew to the hotel, I was pretty exhausted after the 10 hour trip, but after a quick nap, I was ready to see Aonang beach. The next day I went kayaking in the jungle which was alot of fun and really enjoyed the amazing sights. The next day I was off to Koh Phi Phi in the early morning and in the afternoon did a longboat tour which included snorkeling and a nice time chilling on a blue beach. The next morning I hiked to the highest point of Koh Phi Phi called the looked out before having to be back at the pier for my evening ferry to Phuket. In Phuket, I stayed in Patong right off the beach and checked out Hollywood club and a few other bars in the area. The next day I went to see Big Buddha and many of the amazing views from the high elevation before stopping at a breath taking beach near the southern tip of Phuket. The next day I relaxed and spent the day checking out Patong beach before heading to the airport in the evening to catch a flight up to Chiang Mai. In Chiang mai, the weather was pretty raining every evening during the Night market and bazaar, but the morning and most of the day had pretty nice weather. While in Chiang Mai I went white water rafting, which I really enjoyed, but lost my underwater camera during the rapids. The next day I did Flight of the Gibbons which I highly recommend and a one of a kind experience. That evening I took an overnight bus to Bangkok, and then used the next day to have my suit fitted, get some shopping done, and check out more of Bangkok. The next day I took a bus to Pattaya for a few days where I recovered for a few days just relaxing on the beach, I was hoping to get around to scuba, but it didn't plan out. After a few days in Pattaya I took a taxi back to Bangkok, where I stayed in the lebau state hotel (the hotel with the gold roof from the Hangover II). In Bangkok, I did culinary school, met up with a friend of a friend who was shooting a movie in the city, and visited the Grand Palace and Buddha temples over the course of 3 days. In summary, I enjoyed the trip, it was an experience of lifetime and I will always remember it, I would do a few things different about the trip, but overall I was quite pleased with the itinerary. I met some really cool people during the trip, both locals and travelers, I got to full embrace and see how another culture so different, but with similarities lives, and really enjoyed the experience. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to ask!

I will add pictures this evening, they are on a separate computer

Man, sounds like you had a busy trip, but glad to hear you had a good time! I would've loved to have rented a bike and just wandered a few of the islands. How was the culinary class in Bangkok? The few thai recipes I've looked up and made are surprisingly simple, but it'd be awesome to take a class just to learn a few of the basics that they use for their dishes.

Looking forward to seeing photos - hopefully you can get through yours faster than me, as I'm back-logged and haven't gone through photos yet from my last 4-5 trips.
