Thread: West Coast Road Trip

The wife and I are thinking of planning a trip down the West Coast next summer. We are going to take 2 weeks off work, drive from Calgary to Vancouver, then down to San Fran. Anyone done this trip before? Any must-see's along the way?

Seattle, WA; Multnomah Falls, Oregon which is just east or Portland; Eugene Oregon; Mt. Shasta, CA; and pretty much anything in San Francisco is a must see(Chinatown, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, etc.)!

I did this trip the opposite way.

Corona to San Luis Obispo
SLO-SF
SF-Seattle
Seattle-Vancouver
Vancouver-Vegas
Vegas-Corona

If you've never been to seattle i recommend a stop there. its a beautiful place(at least when we went). we drove through oregon in the middle of the night(would have loved to stop there but we decided to spend two days in SF and two days in Vancouver instead).

Check out Santa barbara, and spend some time in LA just to get a look at things.

Make sure you hit san diego's gas lamp district at night. im not 21 yet but i only hear good things

then hit vegas on the way back.. thats what i would do. spend two days in vegas for sure and maybe Santa barbara or SF to rest up cause that many days in a car with the same person is brutal!

you may think you can handle it but it can really be a pain because you are with the same person THE ENTIRE TIME. me and my buddies are close but somtimes the little things will upset you

EDIT: just saw that you said SF might be your last stop..

if you decide to change your mind. 2 weeks is quite a bit of time and you can see most of SF and other spots in a day or so. recommend if you dont plan on doing a trip like this again for a while down the west coast that you just go for it all the way to SO CAL
