Vegas mid-November
The wife and I need a vacation, so we are booking a trip to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. It is our first time there, so neither of us have any idea what we want to do, were to stay, etc.
I guess the first thing, is to find a deal on a hotel. We would probably want to stay on the strip, unless there is a reason not to. Where is the best place to look for deals?
We aren't into gambling, maybe a few hours here and there, so what else is there to do? I would like to rent a sports/exotic car for a bit, or do one of the racing experiences. We are pretty open to anything else that anyone wants to offer. We want to experience all we can in about 5 days.
Thanks

Here are my suggestions for Vegas if you aren't into Gambling:
1) Sky Combat - Personally I've never done this, but it looks exciting. You and your wife will be placed in separate planes with an instructor. The instructors walk you through flying the plane and a simulated dog fight with the other plane that your wife is in. It sounds like a lot of fun to me, but then again...It may not be what you're looking for.
2) Titanic Exhibit - This is basically a museum tour that shows you tons of rare Titanic Artifacts. If this sounds too boring for you, See my other suggestions.
3) Vegas Sky diving - Yup. Sky diving in Vegas. Make sure you book at least a week ahead of time. Tandem sky diving can be a lot of fun.
4) Renting an exotic car - Exotic car rentals are an affordable way to have fun on the strip.
5) Fine dinning - Theres many places in Vegas for fine dining. Try new foods and be adventurous.
Remember; Google's your friend and have an exciting trip!

Staying on the strip is the way to go.
In my experience 5 days is way to long to visit Vegas. 2 nights is the maximum vegas experience I can handle.
Do you have kids (under 21) you are bringing?East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

CANDERSON - Thanks for the suggestions. I will look all of those up.
Mr.Mikey - If all goes well, I hope I am able put money in the bank. I am a pretty inexperienced gambler, so it will mainly be slots and blackjack.
Forfend - No kids coming at all.
Viper - We are not huge into clubs, more the sit back and have a drink type. We may go to one or two just for the experience. Any suggestions? It may be a killshot, but I have no interest in spending $400 on bottle service at a club, for a $40 bottle of booze.
We booked our rooms at the Flamingo on the advice that location is the most important thing since you can walk anywhere.
I am looking at booking one of the World Class Driving tours, which should take up a couple hours and would be fun. Would it be more worth while to rent a higher end car for roughly the same price? I like the idea of not being responable for the car once I am tired of driving around. There are also some mileage restrictions and the wife wants to get away from the strip for at least a little bit.
We are looking at the Pahrump Valley wine tour. I have never heard of this place, but you never know.
Other than that, there are a couple of shows that we want to see (I guess there are booths that you can purchase discount tickets for that day's shows). We will also be gambling some. Neither of us are big gamblers, but after a few drinks, we will see how it goes.
...after writing all of that, we seem kind of lame. We do like to try new foods, see/do different things, and enjoy a good drink.

And I don't know if it makes a difference, but we are both in our late 20's, staying out late, being wild, etc. isn't a problem. We are not easily offended.

$400 for bottle service in a happening club? Sign me up that's a steal!
Ever see the Hoover Dam?
My only suggestion is plan to lose what ever you plan on spending on gambling. we went with friends hoping to strike it rich, safe to say it was an awkward and depressing plane ride home, really ruined their weekend.East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

By all means, take my seat at a night club. Like I said, I would go for the experience, but not if I have to pay 10x retail for a bottle of booze. Maybe if I was still single and trying to impress.
We have not seen the Hoover Dam. We have been looking at some tours to go there. Again, not my cup of tea, but the wife wants off the strip for a bit, so I am looking at fun ways to do it.
I am never one that plans on winning when gambling. If I am fortunate enough to win, I will usually play with that and put my original "donation" in my pocket. I would rather gamble with low expectations and have those expectations met or exceeded, than be depressed for the evening.
Thanks for the advice and keep it coming!

Exotics Racing at LVMS.(did it lots of fun) U Drift(doing this in November I hear its good), The Straosphere, Hoover Dam, Red Rocks Canyon, Freemont Street,
What kind of hotel do you like? I know location is important, however depending on your expectations you may/may not like the Flamingo.
