Default Never stay at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas!

I was at the Venetian for my first five nights in Vegas and had a great time. I love the location as well as the variety of foods and activities. They have an incredible spa, it's in a great location, great poker room, and I absolutely love the Grand Luxe since they have all types of foods 24hrs a day, and there are always hot chicks to pick up on...Especially after 3AM.

Since I had to stay in Vegas for an extra two nights, I decided to switch to the opposite end of the strip just to mix things up. I stayed at the Aria back in January, and thought it was a decent hotel. When I walked through the Cosmo at that time I felt that it was very cluttered compared to Aria's nice fine lines and simplicity that I had become accustomed to.

Since that time my friends have all been telling me how Cosmo is the "it" hotel and by far has the best looking girls. I decided to give it a shot and booked a 1br suite using my Amex Platinum Points at the Cosmo. I was a little disappointed to see that the 1br, if you even want to call it that (one room separated by a sliding door) was considerably smaller than my room at the Venetian.

I've been completely disappointed with this place ever since I got here. I had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door, and the maid barges in at 11AM and asks me if I'm going to have the sign all day. I couldn't believe it. Later on I order a late night sandwich, and get a violent knock on the door like it's the cops, I'm thinking "holy shit, I hope they don't search my room for drugs," but it was just my sandwich! And no, I wasn't being paranoid. ;-)

    Some other things:
-My keys went kaput on me twice.
-Everything in the room is controlled by the remote control for your TV, and it can be a PITA to adjust the temperature.
-I slept with my lights and TV off...woke up at 7AM to all my lights and both TV's being on full blast. Great.
-I'm in the east tower, right above the swimming pool on the 62nd floor and can hear the music blasting until 4AM...They could've at least made the doors sound proof.
-I order room service (second time) and the lady tells me that I don't have a CC on file, I tell her I do, she says no problem, she'll call front desk and if they don't have it she'll call me back. No phone call back, my food gets delivered and the guy tells me I have to pay cash.

There is not a lot of variety at this hotel. They have a few restaurants with the smallest menus I've ever seen. They have one little cafe with maybe six selections of pastries, and eight selections of gelato, and the other "general store" on the second floor where you can buy beverages doesn't even sell any food items...You couldn't even buy a Snickers bar or a stick of gum on the entire property.

I also want to talk about the City Center which is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. They pretty much have only luxury stores where you'll never see anything go on sale. So unless you're looking to spend thousands, it's not even worth walking through it. I like a place with diversity, something for everyone and City Center simply isn't like that. It's a concept that has clearly failed when you look at how dead the place is.

As for the hotels I do recommend....Wynn, Encore, Palazzo, Venetian, and Bellagio. Something for everyone, great locations, set up like a real casino should be set up, and real service.

Hey man! Sorry about you experience, I was there for about 14 hours a couple weekends ago, strictly to check out the blackjack tables.

I got comped a 1-bedroom suit in the opposite tower. Thought it was a nice room but there were some issues. You should have brought up the issues with the front desk and If they didn't help ask to talk to the floor manager and If they don't do anything ask for the phone number of their boss! I sure something could have (still can be) worked out for you possibly for a future stay. I would call and report all the stuff you wrote. Worth a shot! They have been know to give out substantial gambling credit as well! Hahaha

I will be going back out at the end of July to make another run at their tables. Will keep you posted!

I've heard multiple people who share your complaint about the blasting music all night and not being able to sleep, regardless of how many floors up they are from the clubs. That alone keeps me from staying there.

Well, that's good to know. I was thinking about staying there for SEMA to try it out.

I've actually wanted to stay at the Palozzo for quite a while, but haven't made it happen yet. Guess SEMA would be a good opportunity.
