August travel ideas
In a perfect world, the August air in Asia would be dry and weather be cool. In reality, it is hot and humid, not the most ideal weather to be vacationing in (though many still brave the hot/muggy weather and travel to Asia during this season). The Asian in me always prefers travels to Asia primarily because of the food. Asian foods match my pallet the most.
But this time around, I am trying to be different and want to explore elsewhere. My wife will have just taken the bar exam, and I had promised to take her traveling for 2-3 weeks. I travel often for business, but besides Los Angeles, New York, London and Hong Kong, my travels really haven't taken me anywhere else. Another important thing for me is traveling to a country where English is somewhat commonly spoken. My first travels to different countries in Asia, made me realize how scared life could get if in an area where not one person speaks English. Since I'll be with the wife, I'd rather have comfort of not having to worry about those types of situations.
Any jetsetters have any advice for us? I've always wanted to visit South Africa or Australia the most, but have also wanted to revisit Italy and Greece. My wife also just returned from a mini-Euro trip of her own through Paris-Madrid-Barcelona, so those cities would be out of the question as well. She likes to relax, whereas I like cities where they have an active nightlife. I love night markets, bazaars, etc and love to explore the different cultures and foods of the world. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!"Describe my personal style? Sophisticated with a touch of f*ck you." - Derrick Miller

I think we're gonna pass on S. Africa this year and might opt for Bora Bora instead. Still looking for ideas though, been looking into some areas in Vietnam. I hear some parts are like hidden gems.

I think we are heading to China and back to Vietnam in September. Doing a 2-3 week trip depending on work.

prepare to sweat! the weather in china and vietnam should be hot and humid. and don't forget to take probiotics! it's a travel secret i picked up from other world travelers. trust me, in areas of china or vietnam, the food can be pretty suspect. and never, eat the street vendor meets, unless you know its ok. a friend was telling me that they sometimes use rat meat for the skewered meets that they bbq on the street.
i really want to take a trip to australia. do you happen to know a few spots that your friend really enjoyed?"Describe my personal style? Sophisticated with a touch of f*ck you." - Derrick Miller
