    Default Demise of 1k status

I am traveling to SF today from Washington DC, via Denver. I am a 1K member on united and in the few months of traveling I have been upgraded once. Might sound a bit snobby but 1K used to mean something... Now I am 8th or 9th on the upgrade list... Is this a factor of more 1K million mile members and has united been expanding their global services ranks?

*Fingers crossed* I get upgrade on my second leg of this trip

I dont think it is just the fact that you are a 1K on your upgrade status. I was only premier exec on united and would always get upgraded most of the time I would get it before other 1k people on my flight. I flew united atleast twice a week and my tickets were always super expensive because I would book them close to the flight and was flying out of a little airport ABE to ORD most of the time. I thought I read on flyertalk that they were structuring it like hotels do. They look at your status, amount of flights you take, amount of money you have spent. I know for hotels they check to see how many times you stay at that location and if it is a higher % then someone else you will get the upgrade before them.
