I've never flown anything but coach in my entire life when flying commercial. Not even Business Class. Short haul, overseas, whatever. LOVE Southwest.
I do have a PJ addiction though . . .

Ive flown PJ once and it was a pretty awesome experience. If you have the means, it is a ton better than commercial.
That said, the means needed are pretty ridiculous. I flew from Little Rock Arkansas to Jonesboro Arkansas on a Citation XL and the fuel alone was a couple grand. Then you have to rent pilots, have a crew to get the plane ready... and I am just going to leave out the price of the plane!!! For 30 minutes of flying, the bill was around 10 grand between pilots, fuel, prep, and wear on the plane.
First Class is worth it for hopping over the ocean, but anything short of that, I just fly coach.

Unless you were flying on a 747 someone got severely ripped off. A citation XL should cost around 2k an hour, inclusive.

I didnt pay for it. It was a friend's plane and he offered to fly me to and from a relative's funeral. His pilots are full time employees and the jet is his, so I am just kinda prorating the annual cost of all of that for 30 minutes of use in one day.
My 10k number is not the actual cost of making the flight, it is just my guestimate as to what it costs for a day of flying with two pilots on payroll, the jet ready to roll, and depreciation on the jet.

I like Pj's but most of them are smaller and I dont like flying in a small plane! That being said Coach with the Emergency exit FTW its nice and big and plenty of room!

i don't like spending money on things i don't need - first class is definitely one of those things. i try to nab an emergency row; and i've pulled the 2 coach seats on intl flights - that gives me enough leg room if i sit crooked.
for 12 hours tops, paying $5k+ just doesn't seem right. i can take the $4k i save and buy very fancy food, ridiculous wine, or, gasp, save it - money much better spent imo. i will try to snag an upgrade if it's $200-300; but, even then, i feel the value just isn't there for me (crappy food by my standards, crappy wine, and some extra legroom.)
