    Default 21st Birthday..

Okay. So, my 21st birthday is coming up here soon, and my mother has done something amazing. She's purchased me two tickets to Amsterdam, and a whole week at a rather fancy hotel, located next to quite a few coffee shops. Totally took me by surprise with that. That's not really the main point of this, though, so here goes: I'm absolutely in love with everything Porsche. If at all possible, I would like to take a tour of the museum in Stuttgart while I'm on that side of the globe, and I would also like to cruise the autobahn (Yes, I know most of it has a speed limit, and gets congested, but it's something I've wanted to do for quite a while), and I'd like to do so.. in some sort of luxury rental.

So, my question here is, what do you guys recommend? Am I old enough to rent a vehicle while there, or is that option out completely? I've got the entire week to bounce around, but I know I'll have to keep a close eye on the days, or they'll fly past. Any advice is much appreciated! Thank you!

In my opinion, I would try and only spend 2 nights in amsterdam max and spread the rest of your trip elsewhere and take the train everywhere. 7 days in amsterdam is a lot and you will get absolutely bored.

I recommend spending some time in the south of france/italy and if you havn't been for sure paris and london.

if that was me i'd probably spend 7 days really really high.
You might want to check to see any vehicle age restrictions. I know here in croatia you cant drive a car with more than 100hp (I know its such bvllshit) until you're 24. So that should be important. Also i'd make sure my drivers license is valid in that country (they usually are when they're rentals) but you can never be too sure. and just check if there are any crazy laws that you might not think of but that can be annoying.
happy future birthday and i hope you have a good time!!

Well, a friend of mine in the Netherlands confirmed that rental age is 21! So that's a good news. The only issue with spending just two days in each place is that I really do want to have a sort of 'base' to return to after a long day. Stuttgart is only a two hour drive, I've discovered, and it looks amazing. I'll definitely be visiting Paris, though. Any other suggestions, if anyone has been that direction?

So, a bit of an update. I discovered it was far cheaper to stay in Stuttgart with similar accommodations than it would be in Amsterdam. The only issue I'm having is finding a nice rental vehicle to drive. Anyone have any experience with this, in the general area? I'd like to rent an Audi or a low-end BMW (118i 3-door. etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
