I did DC last Feb. and had a blast. Stay at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown. From there you can walk all around Georgetown (my personal fav area in DC) and go to MANY awesome resteraunts in that area - oh and the shopping is top notch there as well.

Old Glory is a great spot - check that out for sure.

From M Street (main drag in Georgetown) you can catch the trolley tour (ask the concierge at the Ritz to hook it up) and that is 100% the best way to see the city. It runs all day so you get on, ride around and get off whenever you want. Go see what you want to see and when the next one comes around hop on and off to the next spot! Every place that everyone in this thread has mentioned can be seen from this tour. Highly recomend this.
