Back from Beijing
So I got back from Beijing on Friday and I was there for 2 weeks with school. I will say the experience was an eye opener in terms of seeing a different culture that is still growing. China considers themselves a developing country and I agree with them even though they are on pace to become the 2nd in world GDP this year.
This was my first international trip and I plan to go on a longer European trip next summer. The experience was awesome and I will carry the memories with me forever. From the awful random smells to the food experiences that I never thought I would try, China has truly changed my life.
Has anyone else every been? If not I suggest Beijing but have heard HK and Shanghai are different all together-Joe

That sounds very cool!
What about it changed you?
Have not been. I am wary of steppin' into a Communist state. Call me chicken...L

It just changed the way I looked at the US and the quirky things we do here. Sanitation in the US is HUGE but there it didn't seem so much. How the people communicated and interacted was also something different. The Chinese people sort of go at their own pace which would probably anger a lot of Americans. I am not going to change my life around because of it but keeping a larger open mind to things I used to not.
Also the communist state thing. A friend blogged about a speaker talking about communism and the Chinese governement then banned her blog. They also talked of it seeming like only highly intelligent people were allowed to join the communist party and they call it "socialism with a Chinese twist". To be in the party you have to pass a certain criteria and only 70 million people in the country are in the party but a ton more probably believe in it.-Joe

Sounds like you had a good time. I think everyone should travel to another country to really experience a difference perspective.
Went to Beijing two years ago. It was awesome! Can't wait to go back."Champions are made from something they have deep inside them a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. " Muhammad Ali
