Is the Ultima GTR still relivent?
The Ultima Has been around for 20 years, with the only real update (from sports etc to gtr in 98) how does the chassis stack up with the current crop of super cars? Can this chassis really still wipe the floor with every other production car with 2012 tech? Is that even possible?
ULTIMA GTR BREAKS RECORD ON TOP GEAR TRACK - YouTube
There are plenty faster Ultimas out there, this video that I'm sure you've all seen before of the one that broke the current record with just out of the box stuff that you can buy direct from Ultima sports. Now think about all the TT cars out there with 4 digit power levels and semi slick tires!!
Could it be possible that nobody has made a better chassis yet? Think of how much super cars have changed in 20 years..

i think the chassis is still one of the best. Through it's light weight and rigidy.
Then it's up to the customer. So it depends on the components he uses for suspension, engine etc.
Nothing beats light weight and a proper suspension layout. Not putting miles on your (super)car is like having the hottest girlfriend, but not banging her very often because you want her to be tighter for her next boyfriend.

We're building a red Ultima GTR in the shop right now for a customre, the amount of engineering into the car is remarkable for such a small company. So much custom work is going into it, 2 years on the build so far for the specs the owner wants, I cannot wait to see it finished. We are almost done at this point just waiting for the final parts to arrive. Leather from BMW took 4 months to get. Looking to put down 850whp with no N/A engine, no turbos. Easily could see 1500+ if the owner wanted it Turbo'd.

We built an Ultima as well. Suede interior and many custom touches. It has a Ford GT engine with TT's, and a Ford GT 6-spd Ricardo.
To answer the OP's question, I think it's incredibly hard to beat around a track...Only the BEST will happen to you.

Gordon Murray used Ultimas as test chassis when designing the McLaren F1. That's flattering for Ultima and says a lot about the quality of them.

They are great cars. Another similar more recent car is the RCR SLC. Same premise; you pick the running gear.
