Default looking to buy a bike

An old family friend has a bike for about $500 bucks for me, its retails at $2,000+

i cant remember what brand it is but its a really dope bike..

however 500 is a bit steep for me since im moving out of my parents place to a home in Huntington Beach. so im wondering if i should save up for this bike, or purchase a cheaper one.

with gas prices rising It's going to be used for a main source of transportation to school, work, the beach etc.

please name some decently priced rides!

    thanks guys!

Post up some pics and brand, we'll be able to tell you if its a good deal....Also what type of riding you'll be doing would be pretty helpful. Otherwise I just recommend getting a bright red tricycle
