    Default Running Shoes

Any recommendations? I bought a cheap pair of Nikes which was like my first pair in literally like 8 years but they are falling apart now

I'd like a comfortable set to use doing workouts and cardio sessions

    Nike Free

If you want to know why, read the book "Born to Run". It's a really great book about how most high end running shoes cause more damage than good. It's also just a great read even if you don't care about running...

Brooks Trance, I swear by them.

In your post there are two words that should never go next to each other: "Cheap" and "Running Shoe" (well OK, three words).

You need a quality shoe that supports your foot, ankles and knees so you don't get injured. Personally I have steered clear of Nike due to poor construction and short life. I have been happy with Brooks, and Saucony for many years. It is worth it to go to a running specialty store and get fitted for a pair of shoes based on you intended use and how you run. The store I use puts you on a treadmill and video tapes your step/stride to help decide the type of shoe and support you need. Do you over pronate, under pronate, high arch, low arch, etc. they can tell you all this. It's worth paying retail for a shoe and get this level of service. Once you have done it once you pretty much can use that guidance in the future when choosing shoes.

Also, 8 years is way too long to wait to buy shoes. Long ago the cushioning material has compressed and started to break down. It is a good idea to take a sharpie and write the purchase date your running shoes and then re-evaluate them every 6 months to see if they need replacing. The mileage you put on them will dictate how long you can keep them.

From what I hear the Vibram Five Fingers are excellent shoes. Takes a few runs to get use to them but everyone loves them. I think there is a thread on the forum about them.

I've used Asics Nimbus for many years. People like the New Balance 993's. A couple of the nike's are ok.
