Rumor: Melo wants to be a Laker
Not sure how he'd have the scoop, but former Laker (and Celtic) Tony Gaffney is claiming on his facebook that Carmelo Anthony wants to go to the Lakers and that the rumored deal would revolve around Lamar Odom and picks. Gaffney who is currently playing in Turkey is saying that he has "plenty" of sources for what it's worth. One might think Gaffney's sources are Lakers players he played with, but even still, Fakers fans shouldn't go purchasing customized Carmelo Anthony jerseys in purple and egg yolk just yet.

Can't see this one happening, if anything Lakers need to upgrade the PG spot. Fish is getting slow and Steve Blake is not a legit starter (good backup though) for a contender. Chris Paul anyone?
IMO Melo wouldn't fit in the Lakers, would take the ball out of Kobe's hands way too much and he isn't a great defender either. That would mean sacrificing Barnes/ Artest in the starting lineup for him. Maybe I'm wrong but not sure this will happen."I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying" - The G.O.A.T.

Well, I heard that local L.A. radiostations were talking 'bout a trade involving Bynum, Artest & picks for Birdman & Melo. Melo's a better rebounder and a better scorer than Artest, and Birdman is a good shotblocker...
Either way, I don't know if this would work well for the Lakers. It could mess up their chemistry, but on the other hand the LAkers would get a player who's on par with D. Wade...

Why would the Nuggets consider this as a viable trade? They're getting rid of their talented head case (J.R. Smith) and don't want another (Artest hasn't gotten out of line in LA b/c of Kobe, but he inevitably would in Denver just like he did everywhere else he's played besides LA). Bynum is ALWAYS going to be injured more than he's healthy. LO isn't an attractive enough centerpiece. And foremost, Denver wouldn't want him to stay in the West if they're not getting anything close to equal value.
LA has zero chance of getting Melo in a straight trade with Denver........When I'm not here, I'm slinging IT infrastructure or gone golfing

The Nuggets want youth (young guy with potential + draft picks) and salary cap relief if they trade Melo. When he goes, they need to get under the cap, because you don't pay the luxury tax if you're only going to win 35-40 games. NJ is still the logical place for him - nobody else has assets the Nuggets want except Chicago, and they are standing pat with a solid roster.

^^^^^ this man understands the reality of trading a superstar in the NBA, and not some fantasy BS.
