I have no hatred for any NBA squad. On any given night any team in the NBA can lose. No team is unbeatable, even the Lakers. They just need to keep Bynum healthy for the playoffs and the Lakers will be in the Finals easy:
- They are far and away the best in the Western Conference
- The best coach in history of the league
- The best player in the league
- 3 consecutive years of championship experience as a unit
The Heat are unlikely to do much this year because they have to contend with:- Who is their best player/ leader?
- Do they respect their coach? Look at the coaches of the past 20 or so NBA champs, they are all HOFers (jury out of Doc Rivers)
- Hawks, Magic, C's, and Melo will be waiting for them in the first three rounds of the playoffs
- Their squad has no championship experience as a unit
Dwight Howard have the fight of his life if he meets the Celtics in the playoffs. Their bigs Kendrick Perkins, Jermaine O'neal, Shaquille O'neal, and Glen Davis all want a piece of Superman. He better get mean real quick.
I wonder what type of moves Chicago will make to pick up Melo? That seems like a dangerous squad if they can pull it off.
I think KD will be scoring champ again this year and it will be a race between him and Kobe for MVP. I think Kobe's assist numbers are going up a bit this year with Steve Blake (high 3PT%) playing along side of him.
WHO SHOULD BE IN THE DUNK CONTEST? Nate Robinson has been a great champ and it's time he pass it on. I think Shannon Brown is the most explosive leaper but lacks creativity. LeBron should grow a pair and compete in the contest already. Who do you guys think should compete in or win this years Dunk Contest?“Gentlemen, to our sons: may they have hot mothers and rich fathers!”

Carlos Arroyo, Mike Miller and Chalmers can all shoot the 3, Ilgauskas is good in the paint, Udonis has been clutch for the Heat for the last few years, and Eddie House still probably has more in the tank. Having Arroyo, Wade, James, Bosh, and Ilaguskas all starting and the bench we have, I believe we'll be in the Finals. (if all stay healthy). LeBron and Bosh have shown they can work together in the preseason thus far.

Melo coming to the East Coast is a non-factor, unless it's CHI. he & Amare in NYC are pure puff - loads of offense, bigger holes in defense. if he goes to NJ, maybe they win 30 games instead of 15. he's a very good player, 2nd-tier, but needs another superstar to take it to the next level (he would be great on Orlando!)
Heat have 3 players - the rest are cast-offs w/ a few good games per season, except for Udonis who is solid.
i agree that Lakers have the easiest shot b/c West is pretty weak now.
Celtics proved last year they are very very real (1 quarter away from being champions)
Orlando is looking better in the pre-season using a more conventional line-up (RL @ 3-spot) and i believe that Dwight could (finally) be on a mission this year - he was embarrassed.
After the Heat, Magic, & Celtics kill each other in very physical games; i would agree that Lakers have the best shot since they will skate through the West & be well rested.
(i'm rooting for the Magic)

I was pretty bummed when Lebron was talking about joining the dunk contest and then didn't.
I think that after a couple of years of tough battles, the Magic will beat the Celtics this year.... Also, it is true (I think) that the Western conference is a lot less intense than the finals in the Eastern conference and that certainly helps the Lakers, but I just don't see them winning again this year.
Either way, I'm looking forward to going to the Heat vs. Hawks game this Thursday and will prob hit up a bunch of other games at the arena in Atlanta and the new arena in Orlando.
I'm just happy that the season has started! Grand-Am and F1 can only fill up so much of my time.94 Supra | 69 Camaro | 99 Land Cruiser | 94 Trans Am

Stacked? Really?
All your centers combined are worth maybe 1 legit center. Big Z you say is good in the paint? Have you ever watched him play? He is a spot up jump shooter who averaged an amazing 1.7ppg last year in the playoffs. Haslem can play D but hes a midget when guarding other 5s and will get worn down especially in a 7 game series.
Mike Miller was a good pickup I'll give you that.
However all 3 of your PGs can't pass or play D, the playing D part isn't a necessity of the position but the passing part kind of is. I think Chalmers will develop into a solid player but hes not doing it anytime soon.
A lot of people have said it, I'm not sure how Bosh got lumped into superstar category. Yeah hes an All-Star talent and seems like a good dude who interacts well with fans. However Lebron and DWade he is not. He is just like SVG said, a lapdog for Wade
He has no experience in big moments nor is he known for being very clutch or someone who makes his team better
Lebron not being surrounded with talent is a weak argument. Yes, he made everyone on that team look incredibly good but this wasn't the Cavs circa 2007 when it was Lebron and no one else. The last few years he has had decent talent around him, not great by any means but very good. His problem is he massages the ball at the top of the key for 2/3 of the shot clock deciding what to do and doesn't pass unless its a pass hes going to get an assist for.
Wade is unbelievable. Even watching him at Marquette, you couldn't say he was going to be a superstar but you damn well knew he was gonna make his name known. He knows how to carry a team.
No one, be it the Lakers or anyone can stop Lebron or Wade, especially in a 7 game series. Lebron is way way too fast for Artest and is probably just as strong. Kobe is not in his prime anymore and will be able to hang with Wade but to make up for his lack of quickness he will have to sag off him like he did Rondo in the finals, Wade is somewhat of an erratic shooter but he definitely has a way better stroke than Rondo and can definitely get hot in a hurry.
Bosh couldn't defend his lunch from a 3rd grader let alone Gasol. They will march all over him in the paint plus Bynum and Odom.
I say the best team in the east is the Magic. They have the 1 guy who can beat Miami by himself because he exposes the main weakness of Miami. If all the rumors of Howard spending time to Olajuwan are true and he even picks up somewhat of a secondary move besides trying to just run people over, then the EC is gonna be owned by Orlando. I think the fact the Celtics defended him with just Perkins pissed him off
Boston should be good, however I feel they are kinda like the new version of the Spurs. Talented enough and play enough defense to be dangerous but probably not quite enough to get over the hump. Everyone that reports on Boston has said KG looks amazing so who knows, maybe they have another run in them. They play some of the best team defense out there and can again expose Miami's really big weakness in terms of lack of size and lack of depth.
I think Miami will be crazy good in like 2 or 3 years depending how the new salary cap is structured but until they can add more role players and some depth I can't see them even getting out of the east let alone winning it all. Say in 3 years they have a legit center and some reserves who specialize in something other than sitting on the bench to fill the NBA minimum 8 dressed players they will be unstoppable.

Hi Chuck! I'm back!!!

I'll be thinking of you! I'm going to Orlando Feb 11th and staying for the Magic/Lakers on Sunday the 13th. Well that is unless I have a GF and she wants to do something for Valentine's day, however the prospect that is closest to being what I would call a GF.....is a Lakers fan and I'm proud to say she decked 3 Celtics fans last year during the finals..........I'm thinking shes a keeper
I've got some interesting games lined up. Ironically none of them will I be in the majority of the fan base.
I'm going to Lakers/Bucks Lakers/Bulls Lakers/Pacers Lakers/Celtics Lakers/Magic
None of them will be in LA! I'm hoping this trip to Boston will end better for me than the last time I was there for a game, that 2008 game 6 debacle.

see my posts from last year, i've always maintained he's low 2nd-tier talent. shaq is right :-)
it only took you two years to come aroundI say the best team in the east is the Magic. They have the 1 guy who can beat Miami by himself because he exposes the main weakness of Miami. If all the rumors of Howard spending time to Olajuwan are true and he even picks up somewhat of a secondary move besides trying to just run people over, then the EC is gonna be owned by Orlando. a Howard/Bass or Howard/Gortat could really do some damage to Miami *but* i suspect foul trouble will be a big problem. Dwade is not afraid so he's good for drawing 3 fouls easy; and LBJ should be able to draw 2-3 if he mans up & penetrates.
there's no question though; if everyone stays healthy on Boston/MIA/Orlando; it will be a lot of fun to watch!

The only team L.A. has to 'fear' is OKC.
