Another 60 miler under the belt this morning for me.....

Actual riding time was less, and therefore average speed faster as I stopped to get some fuel down my neck, and also had to fix a puncture. First one I've had in 300miles, pleased I managed to fix it as quickly as I did.

100 mile organised ride next weekend!

I'm going to start racing so I decided I need to jump on the 29er bandwagon. So I ordered one of these bad boys SCALPEL 29'ER 2
Nationwide backorder and saw one a guy brought in at the LBS and the quality of the carbon cranks and everything else is amazing. Its a cunthair under 25lbs as well.

I've got my 11' scalpel for sale for DIRT CHEAP and will ship if anyones interested.....2011 Cannondale Scalpel 3 Carbon 23.4LBS!!!!

Did my first 100 miler on Sunday

No gps plot as my iPhone wouldn't have lasted the distance, but we did it in a nice steady 6 hours of pedalling with a 20-30 minute lunch break after 50 miles and a 15 minute drink stop at 75 miles.

Picked up 2 damn punctures, one after just 2 miles, and one after 90 miles. Grrr.. now looking for some more puncture resistant tyres.

Now looking at another hilly 96.5 mile organised ride this coming weekend and a 113 mile even more hilly one the week after. Anything less seems pointless now!

Well that was fvcking hard work today! 6h15 on the bike and around 7h in total, 96.5 miles, 2177m/7142feet of climb, 3 bastard climbs in the last 30 miles, including a 1 in 5 section on the last one!

Made it up all of them without stopping or walking though.

Not sure about doing the full 113 mile, >2700m climb route next week. Might just do the half route. London-Paris isn't that hilly and I'm not sure I can take another beating even harder than today's!! Thought my legs and lower back were going to explode at times!

So my Trek 5500 is taking a beating out here in cali, the rear of the drive train has been giving me hell. I've been using it to commute plus ride on the weekends(it was a worn out gruppo before all of the springs riding), there are bars here that give you a discount for showing up on a bike. Narrowed it down to either a new gruppo and wheels or a new bike altogether. Going to have to go look around this weekend at what is available in the sub $1500 range.

    Ohhh Hello there...

Ridiculous weekend. Bought this second hand from a pro cyclist and sold my 5500. Planning on a decent ride tomorrow morning. Need to pick up a new spare tube and some carbon bottle cages though.
