I raced BMX when I was a kid. I have been longing to get back into cycling for a while now. I have been considering getting back into it, well road racing.

thinking about getting into road cycling as i will be soon having to commute a 20 mile round trip everyday so figured why not do it on a bicycle
Hopefully this will provided me with a good amount of base miles to start training for competitive cycling.
Could i get some suggestions for a bike that would be suitable for this, although as im just starting out i have about £500 to spend, would pre-owned be the best bet?

u can def check the classifieds, most important thing is getting the proper fitment on the bike/frame, so get a size that is suitable for your build/height etc.
esp for a commuter, the parts group could be something basic
i was also told by a local veteran racer that he uses a fixed gear for base miles, that is also what i do, it just gets the legs in cycling form and function, then pound the hard heavy miles on the road bike

Just got into it. Bought an old Schwinn off a co worker to commute from home to gym(school, less than 5 miles). Sold it off 2 months ago, I wanted to do more miles... picked up this FUJI Atlantis for $150 on craigslist.
Feels like a Ferrari compared to that heavy ass old school Schwinn. I'll move up with bikes accordingly... as I get better and as I can afford it.
