The NFL is under more pressure than the NBA to get a deal done.......one because its the #1 sport in America and 2 because its not in quite as dire straights in terms of finances and contracts as the NBA. Have you seen how much money the NBA is losing due to player salaries being outrageous? Bill Simmons said it best when he said its like if Hollywood paid a guy who was in 1 restaurant scene 8 million bucks....just doesn't happen, they need to restructure.

I Agree with all opinions noting that COLLEGE FOOTBALL is the truest form of American Sport today... soccer is getting bigger, but there is nothing that compares to NCAA collegiate football... nothing at all

And i agree, can we trade the NHL for rugby or something? Maybe even cricket? Or heck, push more F1 stuff than NHL... BOOOOO......
    Stay RICH money!

You gotta win every week period. Sure a team can slip in with one maybe two loses but it comes down to sudden death each and every week...and the rivalries are almost unmatched. The NFL has have as much pressure each and every week. In the NBA, MLB, and NHL you only have 638 games a year to prove yourself. zzzzzzz

Leadership of both the NFL and NBA feel that current economic models no longer function properly. But the respective player associations disagree and will not accept this as truth. Whether it's true or not (and I'm not saying that I know the answer) is irrelevant because what is true is that both sides think they are right. The odds are that both of these professional sporting organizations will see at least part of their future seasons canceled due to this disagreement. How long it lasts will depend on which side is willing to make concessions first.

This man speaks the truth! I have to say that the owners have a pretty compelling argument though and pretty solid case when you look at the numbers of how much money they are losing. Of course no one forced them to give Michael Redd and Tracy McGrady 23+ million a year either
