TV stations and advertisers get no say. However like I stated above they aren't too worried because they both want soccer to be popular. They might take a hit this year but imagine if the following year instead of just football, baseball, basketball......the major networks got to add soccer to that roster, the ability to add another big sport means more to them than 1 season of the 2 biggest sports

Love college football but college basketball lacks serious talent. They have the few 1 and dones but overall across the board the talent level is severely lacking. its all toss it around the key and then throw it inside, if there is no double team you shoot if there is u kick it out for a jump shot.
Granted some people say its better basketball because its more team oriented than a lot of 1 on 1........however in college a zone defense is killer because no one can make a jump shot consistently........and thats kinda what ruins it for me.
Football teams have 53 players and basketball teams have 15......I love F1 as well and plan on watching that all season too but its not a "solo" sport........any racing there are way more people involved in terms of the R&D of the cars, test drivers, pit crew, etc, etc.......its not like 1 person does everything by themselves.

players should all be paid equally based on how they perform

They used to get royalties from individual jersey sales but now it's divided among the entire league IIRC. Jason Williams told us that back in the day he had one of the top selling jersey's in the league he would get a nice check for that. Now...it's basically a flat rate. So LeBron, Kobe, Howard, Wade, .... they all get the same is if they were Cherokee Parks.

Both leagues are watered down in my opinion.

Neither league is dumb enough to let this happen. Especially the NFL, which is at the height of its popularity right now. It's just posturing, but I think they damage the brand by letting it get out to the public that they would even consider this.
