Summer in Miami
Hello my Southern friends!
The possibility of me spending the summer down in Miami is becoming stronger and stronger, so i thought i would come here to get a little recon work done.
1) Any good/safe neighborhood or building recommendations for me (or areas to avoid). I would really like to get a furnished apartment for the 3 mo. i'll be down there. I'll be working by Jackson Memorial if that helps.
2) Most of the people i've talked to already, and from experience being in the south FL area, public transport is nothing like NY (obviously, i am blessed w/ a great system up here), so i would likely either be shipping my bimmer down or looking into a long term rental for the 3 mo. Any suggestions regarding either of those?
As always, TIA.2009 BMW 335i Coupe - Delivered 7/24/09

Well definitely ship the Bimmer down lol public transportation Sucks! and you dont want to stay in that area by Jackson. Not good at all. Plus if your going to be waiting for a bus in Miami in the summer be prepared to take a shower at your destination. Traffic Sucks big time so I dont know what you want to do there are some good areas that I think you can find something reasonable for 3 mos but not near Jackson...The safest and best bet is to cheack out something in Doral I think there is a place called Eurosuites that does 3 month rentals... Its around a whole bunch of things to do and its a 30 minute drive with traffic to jackson also close to Hwy...If you dont mind paying the extra money you can also look up the gables or brickell but they are going to tax you big time...

don't mind being too "taxed" if it means i don't have to worry about locking my windows at night. I'm used to NY prices so something between 1k-2.5k a mo. (3k max) sits fine with me.
I'm all too familiar w/ the summer down there, family used to have a vacation home in FLL. Looking forward to those pure humidity saturated down pour in the early afternoon.2009 BMW 335i Coupe - Delivered 7/24/09

If it happens it'll be for business. A short summer position w/ the public defenders. Work during the day, but take advantage of the surroundings at night.

I agree. As you said, you don't mind paying a little more for a nice place. I think with your price range, you shouldn't have a problem finding a place to stay in Brickell or Coconut Grove (especially since it is the summer and many units are left empty as people are away). Oh, and I'm sure you want some safe parking as well.
