SecureCHL - Texas CHL Spring/Summer Class Schedule
Starting the weekend of 8/29/09 we will be having classes every Saturday at our location in west Plano. Classes will start at 8am. Full class details are shared upon sign-up.
Visit SECURE CHL | Texas CHL Instructor | Private Classes | Firearms Dealer for sign up or email mitch@securechl.com
for class availability.
Classes are available during the week as well but need to be booked 7 days in advance.
Cost is $99 for first timer's
Renewal cost is $79 - To insure that you get your new license before your old one expires, you should schedule your renewal class at least 90 days before your birthday.
You can renew an expired license up to 1 year after the expiration date. If you wait longer than 1 year, you will be required to take the 10 hour New License class and pay the full $140 fee to the DPS.
In-home Private classes are $175 per person
We will have a limited number of Texas CHL application packages available. It is helpful, but not mandatory, for you to obtain the application package from the DPS before you come to class. To request an application package from the DPS, or to apply online, click HERE:
Texas DPS - Crime Records Service
What should I bring to the class?
If you have obtained an application from the DPS, bring your application package. If you do not have the application, we will provide one for you. You must bring a photo ID, preferably a Texas driver's license.
We provide black pens, highlighters, and a lesson plan with room for note taking. You do NOT need to bring your firearm to the classroom.
We will break for lunch at mid day when we go to the shooting range. You will have time to get lunch on the way there, or you can bring a sack lunch with you.
If you choose to fill out a Texas application online before taking the class, be aware that it takes the DPS a minimum of 10 working days to mail your packet to you. Allow plenty of time to get your paperwork.
What should I bring to the range?
Unless you plan to rent a handgun from us, you will need a handgun (32 caliber or larger) and a minimum 50 rounds of ammo. If you think you might not pass on the first try, bring 100 rounds. We do not sell ammo, so make sure you have enough.
We shoot at an outdoor range, so dress appropriately for the weather. Sunscreen, a hat, and a hand towel are always a good idea.
Tank tops, low cut shirts, and sandals are NOT appropriate for shooting. Wear them at your own risk.
We will provide bottled water at the range. Eye and ear protection will also be provided if you don’t have your own.
To be eligible for a Texas Concealed Handgun License, you:
* Must be a legal resident of Texas, or apply for a non-resident license
* Must be at least 21, unless active duty or honorable discharged from the military, then at least 18

Re: SecureCHL - Texas CHL Spring/Summer Class Schedule
How does out of state work?
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

Ya just use your out of state ID versus using a TX DL. Its just as easy to do.

Awesome, would I be able to apply for a Texas CHL, are they good at the 39 other states that have CHL? Also would this class extend into IL if/when the law changes?
Sorry for the questions you can email me if you want to keep this thread clean.East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
