    Default Maybe Moving to Phoenix......

    Anyone in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area?

I'm looking at possibly moving to this area, my girlfriends company has an office here so she could easily transfer and I'm looking for jobs in the area. Can anyone provide me w/ some insight into the area? I was down there last year for business and loved the area so I'm chomping at the bit to move down there if possible. Overall I'm just looking for some friendly advice from people in the area.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Visited a couple months ago while looking for a car. I loved it.
The downtown Scottsdale area is awesome! Good luck.

Blazing hot in the summer... watch out for snakes and scorpions.

I have friends who moved to Phoenix from San Diego. They hate it
and would move back in a heartbeat of they could sell their house.

The good news is that it's a buyer's market.

I could never live there, but good luck with the move!

We have some family friends who moved to Sedona in the late 90s and loved it at first. They moved back to Mass because they wanted seasons, a yard, the beach, and most of all, there was mad developing going on. I could never live with scorpions and snakes too!!

    ^^^understandable

I'm thinking this won't be permanent more like an itch we both want to scratch. Both of us have lived in the same area our entire lives and we are more the adventurous type, so even if this last for 4-5yrs thats cool w/ me.

I'm not a huge fan being 3 hours from the beach and 4 from snowboarding but being semi close to Vegas and LA is kinda cool. I don't mind drives like that. Housing is so stupid cheap right now we could really have a fun time w/ some of the homes we have seen vs what we are looking at in our area.

Oh well, need to find a job there first hahaha...onto searching for that

I looked at Pheonix a couple years back but by the time we were ready to move about a year later housing prices had doubled. Things have settled down quite a bit now but a quick search of the market would let you know how prices are. I can refer you to a really great realtor out there if you are interested- family friends that have been out there for about 6-7 years and absolutely love it. Great car scene- great outdoors lifestyle except for about 3-8pm during the summer when everyone stays indoors with the A/C blasting. 9:00 everyone is firing up the BBQ's for the evening parties. Very SoCal feel to Pheonix. It has grown immensely over the last couple years.

I live in Phoenix (Gilbert). Been here since 03 when I got stationed here. I like it and plan on staying for a little longer. It is hot as hell in summer. It takes some getting use to. Car scene is great here. Lots of shows/meets/cruises. It is far from a beach but going to the lakes are popular here... We have a pair of jetskis we take out. Snowboarding is about 2 hours away up in Flagstaff. If you're still looking I'd say look in the east valley. Any other questions let me know. If you make it out here to check out the area hit me up.

    I'm sorry.

LOL. Scottsdale is a lot of fun. I head down there for Spring training every few years with the boys. AZ is great too if you are into guns.
