She's been to some good restaurants (and eaten Urasawa's A10 wagyu), and Japan, so I trust this place is the real deal.
Someone go - let us know.

Damn, that's right in my backyard. I will try to make it for dinner on Friday. Thanks for finding this place. Finding good restaurants in Torrance is near impossible, so this will be a treat.

So my wife and I made it to The Steak House on Friday night. It's a relatively small place for a fancy steakhouse, but that's not a bad thing. It's more intimate I suppose, but it doesn't have the "rich" feel of say Ruth Chris, Morton’s or other high-end steakhouses. It's as if they took an office space and dressed it up with nice furniture and dimmed the lights.

The main menu had a few selections for appetizer, salad, soup, meat, poultry and seafood. But we ditched that and chose to go with the course meal consisting of 2 appetizers, a soup, steak, and dessert. We ordered one NY (5oz) and one Filet Mignon (4oz).
The first course was a dish consisting of 3 pieces of fish sashimi drizzled with some spices and sauce. Added to that were two pieces of scallop. It was ok, but nothing that will blow you out of the water.

Afterwards it was a dish consisting of some salmon and scallops again, bathed in white cream sauce. Again it was just ok.

The French Onion soup was served next and I actually thought it was very good. It was light, but had lots of flavor without being overwhelming.

Finally the good stuff: the waygu steaks. They are absolutely incredible. Even better than my experience at CUT. The meat were extremely tender but had every bit of flavor. It's hard to imagine a better prepared steak. The only downside to the dish was the presentation. Though brought out on a sizzling platter, the side of vegetables and potatoes made the dish seem average from a visual standpoint (think Sizzler)

Then to wrap up dinner, we were served two plates of dessert. One consisted of a plain cheesecake with raspberry sorbet, while the other was a slice of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. To be honest dessert isn't their strong point. The cheesecake is ok, but the chocolate cake had a bland taste to it.

The set course ran $78/person and with tip came out to $200.
Overall I think they could improve a lot more. The appetizer dishes just didn't surprise me the way I wanted them to. I was expecting and wanting the underdog to win me over in all areas. The dessert as I mentioned needed work as well. But these shortfalls do not overshadow the steaks which were the main reason for my going. They absolutely stand out and I am actually looking forward to going back again. Though this time, I think I'll mix and match from the menu.

Just got back from The Steak House, In Torrance, CA. Excellent! The ambiance of the restaurant was very clean, sophisticated, and overall pleasant. We were greeted very warmly from the moment we entered the restaurant. Our menus were placed openly in front of us, and the waitress did a quick review of what was available. No overselling, which I really appreciated. After she left we reviewed the many choices that were available on the menu. Many wonderful choices for food, and a terrific variety of fine wines. We decided to choose the wagyu 5-course meal.
We started off with a plate of bread and butter, and we moved forward to our meals. They had a special touch with every dish they served. After the bread and butter there was a plate of sashimi. So good! I am pretty sure it melted in my mouth. The sauce surrounding the sashimi was top Notch. Next we were served Salmon and Scallop on a crme sauce topped off with lemon. Very simple yet bold. The cream sauce was not overbearing so you could enjoy the Salmon and Scallop. The next dish was by far my favorite. Wagyu Beef thinly sliced and served over sushi rice...OMFG!!! I could have at 30 of these things! The waitress told me that had taken this off the menu so Please go there and order them so they will put it back on! Probably one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. When we finished the little golden bits of beef we were given soups. We each tried a different one... Minestrone and Wild Mushroom consomm. Very, VERY fresh. Out of the two I preferred the Wild Mushroom Consomm. The mushrooms had a really good taste. Now came the star attraction. WAGYU BEEF. I had no idea this beef was THAT GOOD! I have found my new favorite cut of beef. I could have cut it with a butter knife. It needed no seasoning or sauce IMO but was served with a garlic and vinegar sauce on the side. It came with vegetables too but I made sure to scarf the whole steak down before I touched the veggies. At the end of the meal we were given Coffee or Tea, your choice and served a wonderful mixture of their deserts. Every single one was good!!! I did not bring a camera with me (LAME) but I took a Camera Phone shot of the Desert Plate
The chef came to the table to greet us, the whole staff took care of every little thing we needed and they even wrote our names on our plates. I told the owner and chef all about L4P and to check out the thread about their restaurant. They were so excited about it they ran to their office and checked it out when we were there. It totally made their day. This restaurant is L4P Certified now! Just mention the website when you go there and you will get the L4P treatment...aka...your name on your desert plate!
Please go and support the restaurant as they are brand new and were not too busy. This place should be packed with a line waiting out the door with the caliber of food they serve. Thank you very much to the whole staff at The Steak House as I am sure they will be coming back to see everyone’s feelings on their (insert LAMBORYDER phrase here...KICK ASS) restaurant!! I guess a completely different experience for us than mentioned above. The L4P mentioning must have done the trick!!! Name on desert plate and all!!
