that's too bad Herm3s - i don't really care about service as long as they don't kick me, call me an asshole, spit in my food, or make me wait 2 hours for a table when there are obviously free ones - so i never really pay attention to it. sorry to hear it wasn't up to your expectations.

rubbery lobster - i would've sent it back - inexcusable.

Certainly not Jean-Georges, but I recently did French at a small local place, Saint-Tropez.

Saint Tropez Bistro Francais & "O" Bar in Fairfeld, Ct. serving French, Seafood and Mediterranean cuisine

I've never really had a stellar meal there, so my expectations were not high, but I have to say, my dish delivered. I tried a seared tuna steak special, and while certainly not of Chuck's Japan posts, it was very good.

Preparation was simple and really let the quality of the fish stand out. Beurre blanc with capers accompanied nicely.
