Default The Big Texan, Amarillo TX

I've been craving a good steak lately, I've eaten at The Big Texan a few times and honestly think their steaks are great. It's a fun place for sure and also the home of that 72 oz steak. Here's the web address and some pictures I took one time I was there.

    72 OUNCES!

About 8,000 have succeeded in completing the feat and joining the ranks of Big Texan champions. They come from all walks of life. Winners have included an 11-year-old boy and a 69-year-old grandmother. Former Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Frank Pastore did it in a record time of 9 ½ minutes. The unofficial record for the fastest time belongs to a Bengal Tiger.

Okay, only in Texas...I may have to try it

BTW since you're in SLO, do you like Jocko's?

I haven't made it to Jocko's yet or The Hitching Post which are both supposed to be real good. I was going to go to Jocko's one night with some friends but they had a big wait so we went to a place called Tanner Jacks which had awesome Prime Rib.

That 72 oz steakd is crazy, if you want it for free you have to eat that, a potatoe or fries, shrimp cocktail, salad and a roll all within one hour .

In an hour...they'd better have a stretcher standing by...

Haven't been to The Hitching Post yet. I do love Firestones though, tri-tip and fries 4tw.

For those who haven't been to Jocko's, here are a couple pics I took of their grill:

I have been to the Big Texan but it was about 15 years ago. It's a cool place to go once.
There was a guy that had just attempted the 72 when we walked in. He looked like he was going to explode from all ends!!! Yuck!

As for Firestone - That grill is awesome! Would love to have that setup.
