who all has been? i live right here in tampa and never go because i dont like paying people to tell me how to dress...

would you guys reccomend filet or ribeye,.. anything else reccomended?

also... i know they strictly say no jeans, but you seriously think if i showed up in a nice dark untorn pair of skinny jeans, nice loafers, and button up shirt their gonna make me sit in the bar? i dont own a pair of slacks and have made it a point in my life to never own a pair... good friend is having a bday party and its not a choice of going..

i've heard it's on a downward slope - the wine list used to be the main draw but i'm sure that's been picked over by now.

as for the jeans/slacks thing - at some point in life, you realize it's easier to go with the flow sometimes - i bet if you bought a nice pair of slacks, especially if they were made by a tailor, you'd quite enjoy them.

i assume you're no longer going to French Laundry? you must wear a suit there, no ifs/ands/or buts.

no more french laundry, laziness killed the san fran trip.. and a check for 12,800 that never came... lol.

ima just wear the jeans, not trying to be a rebel cause thats not me for sure... just dont like paying someone to tell me what to wear.. if they wanna pay me to eat there, id gladly dress like a penguin.

Ate there when I first moved here in '95. Its good the wine list/cellar is sick. I hate to wear anything but jeans either and I definitely didnt wear a suit there.

Haven't been in a few years, but if you go, their specialty cut is chateaubriand and you buy it by the ounce. Every steak is hand cut to order.

Also, best Bananas Foster I have ever had. Makes Brennan's rendition taste like something they make at my son's book cook class.

I went a few years ago for my anniversary. I loved it! It just took a very very long time for dinner. I shouldve planned on being there the entire night. I had filet mignon, and it was very good! The dessert was the best part, so dont skip that! I have wanted to go back ever since... let us know how it was!

I went there about 3 years ago. It is on my top 5 list in the US. It is definitely an "experience". Having worked at 5 star facilities here in San Diego, I can say this was one of the best ever.

Let's face it....when we go to nice restaurants we are paying for the service, the experience, and the food. Unfortunately many places today have forgotten the last component. My experience at Bern's was fantastic.

Definitely take them up on the tour of their kitchen and wine cellar prior to heading up to the dessert room. I second the comment on the Bananas Foster! Second to none.

I truly hope they are not on a downturn as it was something I still talk about today.

I hope you have a great time and maybe you can find some slacks made out of denim I wonder what they'd say????
