Just back from over 3 weeks in Italy, and had some great pizza all over. There's a place between the Sorrento Coast and Naples, closer to Sorrento, actually a small town right near Meta, called "The University of Pizza" Its true, and the Margherita pizza was awesome, here's a pic from just a couple of weeks ago:

I had great thin crust pizza all over the country, and the very best was in a place in the "Ancient City" part of Como. It was in a smal "Piazza" a couple blocks from the Lake, and in a place that advertised itself as a "Mexican Steak House" LOL. EVERY single person there was eating the pizza...best I had in Italy.“I’m sorry, but having an Aston Martin DB9 on the drive and not driving it is a bit like having Keira Knightley in your bed and sleeping on the couch. As a New Yorker, and someone who worked in the restaurant industry for the last decade, I think pizza in Italy...is pretty bad. Yes, their cheese is great, their tomatoes are great, and their breads are great, but something about the way the products are combined that just doesn't work for me.

For me, the only pizza to eat in Italy was the Margherita. Its true that the toppings are much better here in NY.

I had pizza in sevaral cities in Italy but hands down the best I had was at my uncles place. Has a wood oven built into the side of his house and man were they awesome. Best I've ever had for sure. Don't remember the names of any of the other places.
