NYC Valentine's Dinner Recommendation????
I'll be in NY from 1/11-1/15, any of my NY L4P'ers got any recommendations for a classy/romantic restaurant that I can take my girlfriend? I want to surprise her for Valentines and give her a break from law school. We usually eat at all the hot spots in LA, but have not really explored the fine dining NYC has to offer. Hook a brotha up please!

Thats a very open ended question....it's almost like saying "I want to buy a car" and ending up with either a Toyota Corolla or a Ferrari Enzo.
Do you want to spend $100 or $1000? Are you looking to have a private romantic dinner or are you looking for an overall good meal. For any of the decent restaurants in Manhattan you're probably already late booking a table.
My personal recommendation, if you like Italian food is La Mela in Little Italy. Its small, quaint, always packed, but most of all has some of the best Italian food I've ever had. Reasonably priced (I think like around $50 per person), theres no menu- they simply bring out dish after dish until you can't eat anymore. The staff is really outgoing and your girlfriend will enjoy herself to say the least. Maybe not your thing for V-Day, but if you're in NY you can't pass it up.

I'm in NYC, here is what I am doing for my girl:
She is coming over and spending the day with me, then I'll tell her I gotta go to a meeting for an hr and have a bike messenger drop of a package for her while I'm gone. The package will contain shoes and a dress for the night, and instructions telling her to shower and change while I'm gone.
We are going to go out to her favorite indian place for dinner, and then we are going to Max Brennar for desert.
Then back to my place.
If you want I can help you plan it out since I'm right here in manhattan.

WebDaemon, thats straight out of a movie! I love it!
I was thinking more along the lines of a Japanese restaurant. Just looking for a good/romantic spot to take her. Price doesn't really matter, but for sure I ain't going cheap and for sure I'm not spending over $1000 for a dinner for two. Any help is appreciated.

What kind of food, price range, etc? That's too open ended of a question for a city that's literally lined with restaurants. Personally I'm spending valentines day at bryant park for fashion week haha but I know of a few good places to take girls if you need a rec.

I'm not sure romantic and japanese go together haha. If you want good japanese for under $400 total, you can look at Sushi yasuda. If you want something more commercial you can look at Megu.

Thanks, It sounds nice but its actually cheap, the whole night will be Sub $500 probably between $300-$400 including meal, drinks, dress, shoes and delivery.
There are Tons of Japanese restaurants around me. And there are 2 Max Brennars!
Ever try Haru sushi? That is my fav big brand sushi place, but there are tons of others around here in a 5 block radius. If you want I'll show you around and you can pick the one you like the best. Hit me up with a PM.

Man some of you NY'ers are so shrewd! All I want is a recommendation. I.e. the favorite place to take your significant other to impress her. Could be whatever, it is an open ended question if you dont have a favorite place. That's what I want, your favorite place.
Just for dinner (alcohol not included) I'm looking to spend up to $500.

If you want romantic and don't care about what kind of food, go to Jean Georges. /thread.
(although I doubt you'll get a reservation for the 14th so late).
