Need Recs for Anniversary Dinner, San Jose Area
I live in San Ramon. I've already hit all the best establishments in the East Bay and Napa/Sonoma (including French Laundry, Bouchon, Auberge and all the others). My wife and I hate investing the time it takes to get to the city, park, and get back. I know there's great food in SF, and you can disagree with my laziness all you like, but there's no sense arguing; I don't want to go there.
So it seems to me the next area to explore is the South bay. What are the finest places in the San Jose area? Zagat's top rated restaurant seems to be Manresa, but honestly the menu doesn't do it for me. What else ya got?
Also, if there's something new in Napa/Sonoma, I might not know about it and I'd welcome the news.
My anniversary is Saturday. Help a brutha out.

You should check out MARCHE in down town Menlo Park, I think its on top of the list "Zagat". Me and MTK are regulars there and it is definitely worth it. Also we have been recently going to the VILLAGE PUB in Portola Valley.

ive always had great service there, heard tons of great things... Zagat hasnt rated this particular location.. but i assure you only the best... last time i was there i upgraded mine and gf's meals to chicken for small fee and i got lucky after... its worth it for the 69cent upgrade per item.

I got Marche to fax me a menu. It looks great. The menu at Village Pub also looks fantastic. Thanks Raw!
Anyone know anything about Le Papillon?
