My father was just in Punta Cana, he loved it. There is a strong European influence, topless beaches and such. Make sure you are ordering the food and drinks and such, for some reason the locals do not regard women as highly as men and at certain places they will not even respond to females.

Yea when i went there it was coverting from Moon Palace to Hard Rock , the casino was just being opened , rooms were still being converted over .. The Beach was beautiful a little bit rough but thats the beach . walk down toward the right end and water turns a differnt color and alot calmer can just float in it without being washed out to sea ..
The resort is like city in itself .. If you dont have ocean front which is for resort members try to get a building in the middle cuz its a far walk from beach to the lobby/casino area . Spa my wife still talks about it today . The restaurants were OK but for ALL INCLUSIVE its was good enough , italian , japanese , brazilian chop house, pizzaria with stone oven , ice cream shop .. During the day they have poolside grill with numerous munchies , pools all over the place , even a clothing optional pool that has walls around it and is closer to the lobby building as opposed to the rest being closer to the beach . They also had a $1,500 resort credit to spend on anything , like even credits in the casino , not sure if its still going on but pretty good perk wife used for spa , for room upgrade, wine upgrade, $100 slot credit , table play match < not on poker>
The ride from airport to resort isnt the most beautiful route , see alot of poverty , upon entering resort gates armed guards standing outside . No jet ski , or any rentals on the beach they are more down like a mile or so towards the RUI hotel . They have a airport tax which seems like a cover charge . $10 entering airport and $10 leaving kinda weird never seen that before IIRC . At night while playing texas holdem in casino ppl from other hotels would come to play because its only casino which has texas hold em and is the biggest Casino IIRC in the Domincan as far as hotels are concerned . First couple days i got sick , weather was nasty , Ocean looks nasty , I was kind of regretting at first but then figured im on vacation WTH make best of it , next day sun came out and ocean looked beautiful and back in paridise for rest of week ..
