Narrowed it down to two...
Need some input...
We are putting some new floors in and have narrowed it down to two choices... either a rustic maple or a clear cherry. Our house has a transitional style, clean and open (similar to the first picture, but without the stark white walls).

I think maple is more durable, but that cherry really does look good.

Second picture (Maple) for sure, much more character and style in the knots and wood grain.
