Default My home: The Thomas Hamlin House 1823

This is what we call home, Been here for many years. It once served as a summer home for Thomas Hamlin, a rich southern plantation owner. 4,233 sq ft, 4 bedrooms and a whole lot of history. We love this home. Most of the windows are he originals, hand blown. I would say %90 of the home is the same, hand carved wood molding etc.

It has been in numerous books, and magazines.

Although I only have a few pictures, enjoy....

Uhhh super nice. This probably isn't your situation but I have to ask. I had a historical home in Marietta, GA. For me it was a nightmare. Couldn't plant, remove, change or tell tourists to quit sweating my house. I eventually sold it because of all the problems.

I assume your referring to the BAR and zoning? We just redid the garden, added a wall towards the rear, a reflecting pool etc. We know a ton of people and got it through very quickly without much hassle.

As far as tourist, there are quite a few that walk the area and look at homes. They are never a bother, and we have a very sweet black lab who loves to scare them away

gorgeous - i think the old district (is that right?) of Charleston is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. and McCrady's is there - one of my favorite restaurants in the country. lucky man!

I too have moved to dogs as a deturent.

I couldn't get approved for anything. I forget the laws but I lived on a battlefield. I was also 27 and didn't have a clue about what I got into. Your home is very nice. I love a southern home that has some character. Super clean and the improvements sound very impressive.

No doubt. Charleston is such a beautiful place to be. So rich with history and southern charm. The whole southeast coast from Charleston down to St. Simons Island is a must see.

Thank y'all for the kind words. My family arrived here in 1721, and has been here ever since. While the locals, and some culture has become "watered down" it still is very much alive. From growing up going to oyster roasts, fishing, family hunts, or just going sailing it is a very old fashioned way of living. There are alot of old families in Charleston. Our last name happens to be spread throughtout it, street names ETC.
I am going to the Yacht Club as we speak to meet up with some friends and look at the harbor, hoping to watch a junior regatta!
