I need landscaping tips
Just bought a new house and I'm trying to get the grass growing around here. Anyone have tips to get this started.

Its my secret weapon! Basically fertilizes your lawn every time your irrigation system goes off.

First step is determining if your soil can support good grass growth, if not you need to bring in good soil and mix it in with what you have. At my moms we had to bring in good soil and tiled it in with the current soil. After that was done we installed a full irigation system and then used seed... SEED is where it is at, a little patience now will get you a much better, healthier lawn in the long run.
If you want any explicit details contact me... my family is in the golf course industry, we care for 300ish acres of grass all year.Last edited by Kustom; 05-07-2010 at 05:35 PM.

Just to reiterate sod sucks...
The biggest problem with sod is the soil it is grown in, most sod farms are on GREAT soil, the best soil you can find, makes it super easy to grow, and that is what they want!!!
The problem is you throw that so on top of what soil you have and the problems start. The grasses root structure is grown in some soft premium soil and then it tries expanding it's root structure in some hard shitty soil and it doesn't do well... you end up with a root structure that spiders out more than down into the earth and good soft soil that the water goes right through down into the soil underneath that the root structure is NOT well established in... this is why you have to over water the HELL out of sod, you need to put down so much water that is essentially pools up under the sod feeding the roots that didn't make it into the ground where you actually want them...
SOD SUCKS... patience is a virtue, use some with your grass and reap the benefits for years...Last edited by Kustom; 05-07-2010 at 05:35 PM.
