Creating an Investment fund?
Ok guys bare with me, I have invested with canadian realestate in manitoba for a few years now, and looking to move things to a bigger place.
So i though how about creating a investment fund like one banks have example, RRsp's, mutual funds, etc. I know there are some realestate investment funds out there, but wondered if there were some guys and gals on here that know anything about funds. What the process is to create one, run one, manage one, and so on.
bascailly what i want to do is pool large amounts of money, into this "Fund", and purchase realestate, ranging from commerical, to malls, to anything involving realestate.
Any help guys and gals would be great
Michael

I manage a real estate debt fund that is very specific in its investment criteria and suggest you do the same. You will never raise money to "go buy anything involving real estate." You also need to consider your merits as a GP. Why is someone going to give you money to invest on their behalf? Whats the value add?
Re: setting up, managing, etc, I suggest reading "Its a whole new business" by Gene Trowbridge. Good overview process of syndication.
