WRX engine coffee table
So here's the story.
In '07 I picked up a 2003 WRX wagon for a winter car. On new years day '08 while in some very deep snow, a rod bearing let go. The somehow the valves took each other out. So I ended up swapping the ej205 usdm WRX motor, turbo, ecu with a v7 ej207 jdm STi motor, vf30 turbo, avcs ecu.
I then begun to tear down the ej205 to part & sell it. Well in the process I broke off a piece of the left head where the cam seal is. So that head was toast. A dead ej205 is worth about $150. So I decided to tear down the heads & motor in the quest for a new coffee table.
The car had 103k miles on it and spent that entire time in Michigan, so it was nasty.
I soaked all the engine parts in simple green for two days. Then took them to a do-it-yourself car wash and sprayed them with engine de-greaser. Then dropped everything off at an engine shop and had everything chemically dipped to clean out the rest of the oil/sludge. After that I had the engine sand blasted (inside & out) and coated. Then clear-coated it.
Now, my coffee table.
How it started:

Thanks everyone.
Justin, I haven't. To raise the engine more, all it needs is longer bolts to go in the oil pan mounts. It's at a good level for what it's used for.
