    What I've been saying since my first visit there...take away the auto industry and some states would have no reason to exist.

    I say, bulldoze the city, bring in urban renewal projects to the inner city with upscale housing, theater, culture and such.

    How to finance all this?

    1) Turn Michigan into a center for producing and distributing nuclear energy into a grid.
    2) Offer companies relocating to the area tax incentives that rival those given to auto transplant companies in Tennessee and Kentucky;
    3) Get Obama to overturn the obscene NAFTA and unbalanced trade agreements with the Chinese and put something in place more along the lines of what we did to get the Japanese to produce cars HERE
    4) Invite Chinese auto manufacturers to relocate here
    5) Turn the waterfront areas of Michigan, especially near Detroit, into upscale condo, recreation and cultural centers...like Dubai.

    sadly, there is no money in detroit or resources to develop Detroit into that type of environment.
    City of Detroit is a big poop town, other then convention center, ball parks, etc..etc..
    Not just detroit, Michigan as a state needs to bring new business in.. As Automakers are on their way out...
    Movie industries has being moving into Michigan because of tax incentives. This gives Hollywood a chance to shoot in the states instead of going to Canada (from what I hear from the news).
    I really hope Detroit/michigan prosper because it will affect alot of people.

    Important note: This median price is for homes SOLD in December only and does not include the NUMBER of homes sold. They could have sold 3 homes ($1000, $7500 & $14000) and received this median data.

    Sometime I hate how the news publishes things, sorry for the mini rant.
