    Yeah I know, it's a pain really. I did find one that rises 15" out of the counter rather than the 8" that you normally see. Seems there's a market need there because that seems to be the #1 complaint.

    Not sure your kitchen layout, but can't you move the stove to a wall instead of an island?

    We have a Thermador cooktop as well as wall oven ranges and they work fantastic. After seeing how well gas tops heats up food so quickly I can never go back to electric.
    We're also very happy with the Miele dishwasher. It's super quiet and doesn't leave any residue even with hard water.
    Might I also add while Panasonic isn't at this league, we've been extremely happy with the Genius Premier microwave series and it's value priced at under $400.
    I've heard many good things about Dacor as well. It doesn't have the presence as say Viking or Wolf, but still is a reliable luxury brand from what I've researched.

    I have Dacor dual oven, gas range & microwave, sub zero fridge and Miele dishwasher and have been happy with all
