Her is an example of a property in my neighborhood for about 1 000 000$
I think it looks like crap to be honest=/

Your question is too general for the US. It will vary greatly by state and by community.

A $1M in Detroit Michigan right now could buy you entire neighborhood. In Palo Alto California it will get you a 1,400sq/ft townhouse.

Say its in Cali. 2 hours from one of the big city's

In AZ theres a new area being developed where 500k can buy nice house. 1mil could buy you a sweet place. AZ is nice because were close to cali so it dosent take long to get there. Also once California breaks off and floats away into the Pacific, we get beachfront property

Try looking around on wikipedia for neighborhoods around major cities. The google the zip code real estate.

Norway sucks in all ways possible, we pay 50% of our earnings in tax and VAT. And still everything in Norway costs way to much!

Federal tax, state tax, sales tax (9.5% in much of CA), annual property tax of 1.1% again in CA (that's an additional $11,000 on your $1M house each year), health insurance, disability insurance, social security... Blah, blah, blah...
