If your looking to look like a ballet come to boardman ohio you can get a 7k square foot house or more for les than a mil . 1000sf per 100k is a good example around here. Also depends on how you build it

This is a great thread as I have wondered the same thing so many times. I live in the Bay Area and currently even though the real estate market is not hot for a million in my area you get 0. Currently for example there is a 8,000 sqft lot on a busy street with a house built in the 60s going for 1.2 mil. Also I just drove by these 4 tiny townhouses, well done but very small maybe 1700sqft for 1.6 to 1.8 mil.

The most expensive house near me is only $784,400.
