I'm located in Oviedo, which is just north of UCF. Heathrow and Winter Park are going to be your more wealthy locations in the Orlando area. Heathrow being a newer community and Winter Park being a very "mature" community. I don't know what kind of price range you're looking at, but Heathrow is anywhere from 350k-3Mil+. Winter Park is all over the place, because it is older so it has more options. I personally don't like Winter park because the roads suck. It's hard to get around real easily and quickly.
Oviedo, where I live is a little more of a relaxed area. It's great for young families, but it's not exactly "baller". Traffic disappears around 9:00pm, which is awesome. I've lived in Orlando for 23 years, so if you have any questions- let me know. Good luck on the hunt-
By the way, I don't think Condos and townhomes are considered the best investment here in Orlando. I think homes are much more desired here, that is unless you're talking about downtown Orlando.
-And about the Colleges, both are degree factories. College is just a glorified high school now.Last edited by CrimZon; 06-18-2009 at 07:23 AM.

I am looking for an area to raise kids, yet has entertainment, nice shopping and dinning.
Also, I want to be within 30-45 mins of a international airport, as I fly to India and Europe few times a year. That is why I was thinking of Orlando or Tampa.
I have family in Tampa so I want to be near Tampa.
The other thing I have to consider is where my wife can get a job as an Engineer. I read that FL. has or will have some federal and state/city jobs opening in the next few years.
Thanks for all the feed back, and if any one has any contacts that can help my wife get a Fed/State/or city job in Florida, that would be awesome! Dinner and drinks on me, if you can help out!

Dude please do not invest in Orlando! I have lived here since I was 8. I hate it!! That's why I'm moving to Atlanta in a few months. The crime in Orlando is crazy! Downtown sucks!! It's a very small city!. The housing market still has not stabilized here. There are a lot of vacant and FC properties that are not going to be filled anytime soon. If you must I would say to look at the Lake Mary/Heathrow area. I work in this area and if I was to stay in FL this is where I would move. Very family friendly. Lots of great companies call it home. Still up and coming. Low crime rate. Best schools in the area. etc...

Having visited friends at both UF and UCF 8 years ago, UF is by far a better place to be unless things have changed a lot. I know nothing about the real estate market in Orlando.
