Where to live near Chicago's south loop?
Can anyone speak to the Presidential Towers in Chicago?
My office is RIGHT near Union station, ergo Presidential Towers, and I want to move from Naperville into the city (near Chicago's south loop) in 2Q 09.
I know the north end of town is far better overall (nightlife, proximity to things, etc...) but all I do is work anyway, so something near the CBOT would be cool.
After 2 1/2 years of 40 minute train rides, parking at rt59 (FTMFL) or Naperville, I am ready for a change.
Anyone lived there(Presidential Towers)?
Anyone you know lived there(Presidential Towers)?
Anyone you know work there (manage etc...)?
Much appreciate any feedback.

Charles, I am in the same boat as you. Living in Naperville, working near Union. If you want a good Apartment/Condo Guy, let me know I have a guy who can help. He showed me a few places that were nice in that area.

Pres Towers is an odd building at there is high priced condos and apt's mixed with subsidized housing in the towers.
You would be better off in the West Loop. I leave there and walked to the Union everyday. Like a 12 min walk or less. Plus there is better nightlife ect.Storm Trooper'd -Mercedes ML63 AMG

Agree with 411. PT is odd and old and a bixed bag of residents in the middle of nowhere for night life. I used to have a place in the West Loop as well (925 Huron) and it is down the street from everything you need.

Thanks for the save...It seemed a bit too good online (prices, amenities, etc...).
I asked a guy at work and he confirmed. Its a dump...
WTF is up with sticking subsidized housing in a tower that is marketed like its the shizz? Chicago spin doctors! I hear it is built on an old housing lot... SCARY YO!
Night life is FTL. No drinky since Nov. 07. That means no bars, no hookers, and no blow.
